DomainPeople Successfully Completes .com/.net/.org Registry Accreditation
Vancouver, BC - December 3, 1999
DomainPeople, provider of domain name registration services, announced today the successful completion of its Registry accreditation process with Network Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: NSOL) (NSI), the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) appointed Registry to maintain domain names ending in ".com," ".net," and ".org,". This critical milestone brings DomainPeople one step closer to becoming an operational ICANN accredited Registrar offering realtime domain name registration services to Registrants around the world.
ICANN announced the expansion of it competitive Shared Registry System (SRS) earlier this year, and selected NetNation Communications, DomainPeople’s parent company as a successfully ICANN accredited Registrar, enabling the new Registrar to apply for Registrar accreditation with NSI which is required in order to provide domain name registration services for the domain name extensions offered by NSI.
DomainPeople expects to see a dramatic increase to the number of domain name registrations within the next 12 months due to an expanding number of ICANN accredited Registrars that will be offering registration services in a competitive and innovative area. DomainPeople is expected to start providing domain name registration services as a fully operational ICANN accredited Registrar before the end of this year.
