Canadian Domain Name Registrar, DomainPeople, Offers a .MOBI Compliant 6-Page Website Builder

Vancouver, BC - October 11, 2006

DomainPeople offers a template-based Web Site Builder tool to help customers get their .mobi compliant Web sites up and running quickly.

DomainPeople, Inc., the eighth official domain name registrar accredited by ICANN (the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers), announced today that is now offering customers the option of adding a Mobile Business Site Builder feature to their .mobi domain name registration to get their Web site up and running quickly.

Hostway the mother corporation to DomainPeople commissioned a UK-based survey by independent research body TNS and found that although many people can access Internet services from their mobile phone, three quarters (73%) are not taking advantage of this. However, 90% of the survey said that they would use mobile Internet if they could be sure that pages would load faster and they wouldn't incur high costs from their mobile operator.

".mobi was created to remedy these problems by ensuring that Web sites created are compliant with the .mobi requirements and therefore easy to access from a mobile phone," noted Robert Birkner, General Manager of DomainPeople. "Our Mobile Web Site Builder tool makes it quick and easy for a customer to design a .mobi compliant Web site giving customers the opportunity to easily access the Web site while they're on the go."

The template-based Mobile Business Site Builder tool gives customers the capability to design a 6-page Web site consisting of the following pre-defined pages:

  • Homepage - you will be able to upload an image here
  • About Us Page - enter company information. You'll be able to upload images
  • Products and Services - enter product information for up to 5 products, upload images
  • News - enter company news, press coverage, and information on up to 3 upcoming events or tradeshows, upload images
  • Directory - enter contact information for up to 5 employees, ability to upload images
  • Contact Us - enter general contact information, images
  • Additional features - links to Google Maps.

Approved by ICANN, .mobi is a new top-level domain specifically created for Internet use on mobile devices backed by leading mobile operators, network device manufacturers and Internet content providers worldwide including: Ericsson, Google, GSM Association, Hutchison, Microsoft, Nokia, Orascom Telecom, Samsung Electronics, Syniverse, T-Mobile, Telefónica Móviles, TIM and Vodafone.

.mobi was created to accommodate the needs of the growing segment of mobile Internet users.
